We started in Rimeford, traveled underground to Mineford, and have finally ended in Farholde, the capital city of the realm. It's beautiful, oppressive, ridiculous, and held together by propaganda, fear, and theonite collars.
Magic is illegal in this realm. Unless you are part of the OT, the anti-magic police force. Magical construct guards patrol the checkpoints. Even the occasional battle of teh carnivals isn't enough to lift peoples' spirits.
Our heroes are tangled in resistance plots, noble weddings, forbidden gods, living batteries, masked identities, family drama, and one very drunk dragon named J'Michael.
They were just trying to live a quiet life in a remote mining village.
The OT are Farholde's enforcement arm against magical practice. They detain. They surveil. They patrol the checkpoints with magical instruments and robotic backup. The system is, by all official accounts, working as intended.
The OT use magic, of course. Their tools are magical. Their methods are magical. Their enforcement is magical. The official position on this is that it is fine, actually, and you should not think about it too hard.
